I tell you, there's nothing like getting up briefly early in the morning after a night of partying than to find one of your cats has barfed all over a kitchen chair and the carpet in the night, while the other one (presumably) stepped into a pile of cat shit and walked all over the bathroom. Yummy.
Going back to bed now.
Once upon a time I had two cats and wrote a blog about them. Now the cats moved on, and I'm stuck with the blog.

Franky and Benjy doing what they do best.

Too boring to tell?
I have to admit, I'm not doing updates as frequently as I used to when Frankie and Benjy were younger. And smaller. And did more funny stuff. But seriously, who wants to read about how they await me every morning at my bedroom door and fighting for my attention and my petting hands? Or how they crawl all over me when I'm just sitting somewhere trying to get something done? Ok, admitted, one day when I was sitting on the toilet (yes, I do go into the bathroom to do other stuff than cleaning the litter box every once in a while) and Frankie climbed on top of my shoulders to make himself comfortable on my back, that was a bit funny. Sorry I didn't have a camera with me there, but then, I wouldn't have shown that picture anyways.
But the really fun part was this morning, when I was getting ready to step into the shower and suddenly couldn't help but notice that one of me feet was conserably warmer than the other one. Warmer and wetter. Next thing I notice is the stream of yellowish liquid gushing out of the litter box and onto my right foot. So I try to tell Frankie that it is not enough to stick the head and all four paws into the litter box before letting go, but it's also a good idea to point your peeing bits downwards first. If you ever tried to deter a peeing cat from it's business, you will already know what I'm about to tell you: it just does not work. So I just watched the puddle on the floor grow until Frankie was finished and mopped it up for him. Which was still better than waiting for Frankie to find the mess himself and trying to clean it up by sticking his paws in...

Hurrrgh!
Well, ok, so they didn't take too well to their food today. So why don't they just hop over to the piled floor and empty their stomach there? Is it really, really necessary to barf from the highest point of the room, all over my couch, the wall(!) and the rear left surround speaker? I mean, seriously!

How to wash your cats feet
Ever wonder how to do that? It's quite simple, actually. Fill the bathtub about an inch high with water and set a bowl of favorite cat food floating in it. Then just let nature take it's course.
Very advisable course of action after the feline devils have walked around in their own heaps of catshit and are threatening to carry it through the whole apartment.

Can't think of a funny title right now. Sorry.
Earlier today, Frankie tried to hop onto my lap when I was holding ring binder on my legs. The top flap, upon which he so gracefully jumped, promptly adhered to the laws of gravity and bent downwards, dropping Frankie on the ground before he could react. Should've taken a picture of his face when he was sitting on the ground again.
Now they both are sitting in the box where I'm collecting used paper. No idea why, but they absolutely love these simple plastic boxes.

Home sweet home
Came back from new years vacation yesterday, was skiing. And Apres-Skiing, of course. Picked up the cats at the cat hotel where I had abandoned them a week before, they took the car ride with the usual complaining. Benjy has gotten himself a scarred nose from another cat, and Frankie has diarrhea again, probably from the different food. They didn't even eat all their can food last night. I guess they are now spoiled from the high-quality food they got at the hotel.
Also, they seem very afraid that I leave them again. Wherever I go they follow and lie down near me. Or on me, if the situation allows it. They've become quite lazy, I guess the lack of hormones is kicking in.

Bathing time

I took a bath. Again. This time it was Benjy who fell into the water. Once while the trub was filling up, don't know how, just heard this tumbling sound and when I went to look into the bathroom I saw a wet and unhappy cat. And then later, while I was in the tub, he got startled and dropped in for the second time. Don't know if he learned anything from that, but honestly? I doubt it.
Looking at the picture of Benjy pleasuring himself with his raspy tongue, the little devil, I wonder if the vet really did do such a great job. His plumbing seems to work fine...

After the vet visit

Well, it took the doc about an hour to rip the manliness out of my cats and sew them shut again. I brought them home and then spent an hour watching them lurchin across the floor and stumbling over their own little paws. Now I know why we humans get our own wakeup room for coming out of surgery. At least they still knew where to find the litter box.
Frankie emptied his stomach over my old carpet and the tilings, but since he hadn't had anything to eat for 12 hours, there was just some white wetness which was easy to clean up. No other aftereffects. Apart from that empty feeling where one would expect a solid chunk of ... uhm... cat mojo, of course.
A promise kept
C-Day!
Caught them both on the kitchen table today. Grabbed them and told them in no uncertain words that they get no food today and I'll have their balls cut off.
That'll teach them.
That'll teach them.

Cat for sale on ebay!?!
No, of course not. But see for yourself:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5835594207
Apart from writing ebay offers and prepping insurance applications (I finally finished them all) I watched a lot of Firefly on the weekend. Got the DVD box Thursday and I have to admit there's only two episodes left to watch of the 15. So now I'm ready to go to the movies and watch Serenity. Shame the show is only so short.
We went out to the balcony today. Played a bit in the snow. I had put them on a leash, so they wouldn't try to escape by jumping off my balcony. They actually didn't complain too much once I had removed the bells from their harnesses.

Letting the cat into the bag
I swear, my bag was standing on the couch for about 2 seconds before Frankie was on top and halfway into into it. With only his butt sticking out I figured it's gotta be really interesting in there, so I gave him a good push and closed the bag behind him. After a few minutes he managed to stick his head out, and Benjy immediately took the advantage...

Hide and seek
I thought hopping into the bathtub would be the perfect excuse for staying home tonight and skipping training. Already spotted my mistake? Yep, right, tried to think again. Should get rid of that stupid habit. So I flushed out the bathtub - needs to get rid of all the cat hair every three hours or so, otherwise it piles up over the rim - turned on the hot water, put the plug in --- wait, where's the plug? Not in the bathtub. Not in the bathroom either. Not anywhere else either. I crawled into every conceivable where a cat might hide a bathtub plug with a meter and a half of chain attached to it, but, much to my dismay, nothing. Nowhere. They know where to hide their toys...
So I settled for filling in a couple of insurance applications and then crashing on the couch and petting Frankie and Benjy through two shows of 24 (almost through the fourth season).
